Hi all :) ok i am trying to think of a formula that will work this out , i have colums of letters that are P, M or D, i would like to put a formula next to each letter that will give that particular letter a value and place it next to each letter, so P is 6, M is 12, and D is 18. Any ideas .
Thanks for any help with this ;)

How can you automate Excel?
Press Alt+F11 from Windows Excel to open the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) editor.

One way...

=IF(A2="P",6,IF(A2="M",12,IF(A2="D",18,"")))
