I can have a set of independent products with independent quantities.
In Column D, I need to apply Formula-1 ONLY for the FIRST maximum quantity in Column B, for EACH product set in Column A, and Formula 2 to any other quantities within each product.
Thank you for help.

Excel Facts

Shade all formula cells
To shade all formula cells: Home, Find & Select, Formulas to select all formulas. Then apply a light fill color.
How about
Excel Formula:
="FORMULA "&IF(COUNTIFS(A$2:A2,A2,B$2:B2,MAXIFS(B:B,A:A,A2))=1,1,2)
