I am looking to put a formula using VBA code into all cells of a column(column B), which would populate column B only based on the value of another cell in column A. I am having difficulty referencing the previous cell up in a column to get its value when there are blank rows involved. As you can see, after blank cells in column A, I want to start a new "Section" by looking up the previous section used. Here is my example:

Col A.........Col B

<seed>.....Section 5
123...........Section 5-1
xyz...........Section 5-2

456............Section 6-1
def.............Section 6-2

abc............Section 7-1

Excel Facts

Why does 9 mean SUM in SUBTOTAL?
It is because Sum is the 9th alphabetically in Average, Count, CountA, Max, Min, Product, StDev.S, StDev.P, Sum, VAR.S, VAR.P.
