Followhyperlink Freezing

I have a sheet that contains tracking numbers for shipments. I setup a macro so when I double click the tracking number, I combines the tracking number with the tracking site url and uses followhyperlink to open the tracking information in internet explorer. Normally it opens internet explorer within about 3 seconds. The problem is that about 1/3 of the time, when I double click the tracking number, it will freeze for about 1-5 minutes. Then, when internet explorer finally opens, excel will unfreeze. It seems to be getting stuck on the followhyperlink method. Does anyone know what could be causing this or how to fix it?
