Format dates on line graph

Looking for help formatting the horizontal axis to start in the middle of a year as shown, without the unnecessary part to the left of the vertical axis. If I use the actual start date (10/5/14) for minimum bound (below), it makes it appear as though the start date is 1/1/14 and the rest of the graph is shifted.

Excel Facts

Bring active cell back into view
Start at A1 and select to A9999 while writing a formula, you can't see A1 anymore. Press Ctrl+Backspace to bring active cell into view.
which chart type have you used? Point or line?
What if you add one point to the start of the range with 0 as value and 1/7/2014 as date?
