Formatting negative time

Having previewed past 'formatting time' posts, I cannot find the answer to my problem (might be right in front of me...if so, sorry).

A1= 08:00
A2=16:00
A3=A1-A2 Result is '######'

any way of getting this to read either -8:00 or (8:00)?

Excel Facts

Select all contiguous cells
Pressing Ctrl+* (asterisk) will select the "current region" - all contiguous cells in all directions.
