How can I get an entire row to format when specific text is entered?

What I mean is,

When I type "credit" in A1, I want Row 1 to fill with a Green Pattern automatically.

Select the cells in the row you want to be formatted (since I doubt it's the ENTIRE row), and go to Format\Conditional Formatting.

In the dialog, select 'formula is' from the dropdown list and enter the formula =$A1="credit" in the blank. Then click the 'format' button, and select your colors/borders/fonts. Click OK until you are out of the dialog box, then try entering 'credit' in A1.
