Hi there.

I have been on this forum once before and found it most useful. I am after another bt of help.

I want a certain cell on my sheet to be the same as what the sheet itself is called if you understand?

For example, Cell A2 reading "Sheet1" Then if you change the name of the sheet, Cell A2 updates with whatever its called.

Is there a formula i can place in cell A2 to do this for me?

Many Thanks

Craig

A couple of possibilites:

=MID(CELL("filename"),FIND("]",CELL("filename"),1)+1,32)

=SUBSTITUTE(CELL("filename",A1),LEFT(CELL("filename",A1),FIND("]",CELL("filename",A1),1)),"")

These formulas will only work in a workbook that has been saved.

A general question. This request is not an isolated incidence; I have needed this "function" many times in the past, so why has MS not included it in the standard (or Add-in) functions? I know, wrong Forum, should be MS's own Excel forum - but if makes you wonder if any of the programmers ever read the forums!.
