Hello can you help?

I have a list of 15,000 entries where I need to bring back some information in a Sheet which give mes basic information from the download.

I can not use filters as the spreadsheet is just massive!

The formulae I requires is to bring back information from the large list back into a small summary sheet.

I want to be able to search by name in A1 and look into the Large download and bring back all the example Smiths back with their first name and Date of Birth.

I know excel brings back the first Smith but is there a way I can create a formulae which ignores the one above and brings back the next one and so on?. Filters is a main problem regarding speed and my pc not responding.

Is there a way or a simple way?

I am writing this for someone who needs to check if someone has been with us before.

Your help would be appriciated.

Regards

Simon

Simon,

I believe a Pivot table on Sheet 2 would work for you.

I don't see why 15,000 is causing you a problem, especially if you are purely looking at sheet like a database.

Have you looked to use the Find feature, Ctrl + F

A pivot table would not work as Not all information is selected in the pivot table so if I have BROWN as a surname with three different firts names the BROWN does not appear on all the pivots.

It would if you concatenate the columns for both names.

Which version of Excel are you using? Pivot tables will allow you to show top 10
