Getting Error as "File Sharing Lock Count exceeded"

I am trying to assign a primary key [to a large DB of side 400 MB (total 847177) records] by using Auto Numbering.

Because of the large size, access is not able to assign the autonumber. The error I am getting is -
" File sharing lock count exceeded. Increase MaxLocksPerFile registry entry"

Do you know how to increase the value from the registry. Please give me the path to do so. I am using access 2007 on Windows xp
