Getting multiple cell selection with a single click

Why am I all of a sudden getting 4 cells when I only click on one? No matter where I click on the page, four cells show as selected. I am running Excel 2007 in Vista.

Copy a format multiple times
Select a formatted range. Double-click the Format Painter (left side of Home tab). You can paste formatting multiple times. Esc to stop
