I want to make a standard X-Y scatter plot with a proper date on the X-axis showing year month & day in no particular order. I do not want to make any changes to column A.

The key seems to be selecting the right format category/format code in excel. I've played around there for some time trying different localization, different custom codes but nothing worked so far. Either doesn't work at all or shows as the year 1901 or 1900.
Does someone have the complete custom definision for this specific ISO date/time format? I think then it's a 5 second fix to copy/paste that custom format in there or?

Formatting doesn't matter. Excel will see this as a string. Insert another column with this formula and use it for your x axis values:

Excel Formula:
=DATE(LEFT(A1,4),MID(A1,6,2),MID(A1,9,2))
