on a pivot table when i group by weeks and also wanted to group by quarter, month etc it seems to revert back to daily.in other words it loses the week group...i know there has to be a way to have week grouping along WITH quarter month year

Excel Facts

Format cells as date
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+3 to format cells as date. (Shift 3 is the # sign which sort of looks like a small calendar).
Im not sure, but it might be removing it because weeks can span over 2 months or quarters, it might just be the way it handles that?

that makes sense. I could have swore that a reporting guy i used to work with was able to set up the pivots like this. i could be mistaken..but i cant be certain. thanks
