Hi all, First time posting so apologies if there's not enough info.

I've a test case management tool which I want to use to run and report on test cases.
Test cases can be written directly into the tool or imported using a template.xls

All my current test cases are in xls format.

The problem is mapping the fields in the existing test cases to the template, not all the fields are required, extra rows will need to be added to the template and I've thousands of test cases to import so manually copying and pasting is a non started.

Please let me know if you can help or need more info.
PM if you need the actual xls files

Thanks
Rory

Excel Facts

VLOOKUP to Left?
Use =VLOOKUP(A2,CHOOSE({1,2},$Z$1:$Z$99,$Y$1:$Y$99),2,False) to lookup Y values to left of Z values.
Rory,

Do you have any examples you could post or describe? It'd be helpful to know which columns the template has, which columns are mandatory versus "ok to be missing" in the test case files, etc.

Sometimes its more an issue of defining the process than it is writing code, so be mindful you cant really give us too much info, but you can give too little.

Welcome to the Forum Rory,

As you say you have thousands of test cases are you wanting to combine them into a single workbook and do they reside in the same folder? Are they in rows?

As requested by rdw useful to have a little more details, even copying and pasting part of an example of the layout would be useful to help provide a solution.
