What is =ROMAN(40) in Excel?
The Roman numeral for 40 is XL. Bill "MrExcel" Jelen's 40th book was called MrExcel XL.

INDIRECT returns the reference specified by a text string. If A5 contains 1 and C2 on sheet "Journal and accounts" contains 10, INDIRECT will return a reference to:

'Journal and accounts'!D2:D14

which is used by the MATCH function.
