I'm sure this is a really easy question & i should really know the answer! The last column in my s/s is IV is it possible to extend the spreadsheet and add further columns?

Prevent GETPIVOTDATA. Select inside a PivotTable. In the Analyze tab of the ribbon, open the dropown next to Options and turn it off

Sorry but there is no way to do that. You need to find the best workaround..
