Hiding data in graph axis

My Goal: I want to create a graph that shows employees where they rank in relation to other employees without showing the names of other employees. I want to do this in a graph.

What I know: I can hide the data in individual cells by using the Custom formatting
Code:
;;;
. I then create a bar graph using the data. In theory, the data for the fields that I have hidden with the
Code:
;;;
should also be hidden on the vertical axis (example: the coworkers' names), and only the fields not hidden should show (example: the specific employee, the goal, the group average, etc).

My problem: Sometimes when I do this, Excel cooperates nicely, and my graph turns out perfectly. Sometimes when I do the exact same process, the data that I have asked to be hidden remains visible on the graph's vertical axis.

Can you help me figure out what needs to be done to make sure the data I have selected as hidden remains hidden when I create the graph?

Thank you!!
Valerie

How to fill five years of quarters?
Type 1Q-2023 in a cell. Grab the fill handle and drag down or right. After 4Q-2023, Excel will jump to 1Q-2024. Dash can be any character.
Hi MomDoc.

Welcome to the Forums.

You may want to create a new range of data that you chart that is truely annonymous.

You can make your data look exactly the same but annonomyze the labes/employees/groups. Then no problem.

Lets say your data is in Column A and B

A................................B
Name EE..................Data
Name Comp EE........Data

Then i would make formulas in column E and F that I would use for the graphs:

E...................................F
Name EE....................Data
="Comparison EE".....Data

Since this is just whatever text you want to put in, there is no problem with showing the label.

Hope this idea helps.
