How can you create a pivot table that ignores "blank but not empty" cells?

When i create a pivot table it counts the formula as an item (the formula is a IF statement and false is set to ""). Example - 3 out of 5 are true so a value is visible but when i pivot, the count for that column is 5 and not 3. Is there a way to make it read like a true empty cell either through formatting or VBA? thanks in advance for reading this...i've been beating my head against the wall for the past couple of days trying to figure this out.

thanks,
RJ

Excel Facts

Which came first: VisiCalc or Lotus 1-2-3?
Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston debuted VisiCalc in 1979 as a Visible Calculator. Lotus 1-2-3 debuted in the early 1980's, from Mitch Kapor.
i forgot to ask if this is even possible? If it isnt, at least i can accept it for what it is and stop thinking about it so much. Thanks again

Is there a way to clear content based on false ("") values? Im thinking this might be a short term solution while i research some more.
