How Do I Create Grand Totals for Rows in a Pivot Table?

Hello Everyone,

I'm hoping this is an easy question to answer. I've created a pivot table. so far so good.

I have grand totals for my columns, but can't seem to get grand totals for my rows (adding all the data from left to right).

To try and resolve the problem I tried going to Table Options and checkmarking Grand Totals for Rows but this doesn't work - nothing comes up. Are there limitations on when a pivot table can create this calculation? Am I doing something wrong?

Any help is appreciated

Hi Texasalyn,

Yes. I'm using sum on all my data selections, and even formatted them to be shown as numbers.

I've been looking for the past hour on this site and the www and I keep running into things that say that all I have to do is checkmark the box titled "Grand Totals for Rows". I must be doing something wrong.

I think I'm having this problem because I didn't drop anything under columns in the Pivot Table layout screen. I've clicked and dragged data into "rows" and into "data", but not columns.

you are correct. WIthout something in the column then there is nothing to total left to right
