How do I pursue programming?

Hi. I'm a slowly learning, self-guided student of vba/excel. I'd like to pursue a more formal training method in application development, hopefully to the point of a microsoft certification.

For the life of me, I can't find concrete direction on microsoft's site. I'm looking for a list of study guides/courses that literally say "start here if you're an absolute programming beginner" all the way through the advanced courses, then to take the test. I can't find that though. All the online course descriptions say "for the experienced programmer."

I don't know where to start.

Thanks in advance,

Kevin

Hi,

Get the book "VBA and Macros for Microsoft Excel" by Bill Jelen (Mr. Excel).

It really helped me a lot.

Absolute guide for a VBA beginner.

Hi Kevin

As far as books go and for the absolute beginner, I think Excel VBA Programming For Dummies is hard to beat (it's what i learned with).

However, doing is definitely better than reading. If you're at work, consider what might make peoples' lives easier in Excel (eg take existing processes and see how to automate them) and then implement those improvements. You will learn best this way.

Bingo Richard...

Nothing like learning it by experiencing it... And mrexcel.com is always there if you are stuck in between.
