Hi Cubist,

your formula is accepted by excel but the result showed different on the criteria above. H=3.97 is cell H133. H134=-10.98 was changes of index for previous day.

Excel Facts

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.
There were mention of H being numerical before. What does “up/down” in H mean? Show the expected result in the next column.

up/down in G column is changes of F cell(previous day - next day). while H column is changes of index (previous day- next day). so these 2 criteria determine the market situation on that day.

Looking at your example I don't get why they're all Side way.
Tuesday is UP ; Index change of 7.95 so should be Bullish?

i adopt your formula in the excel so it came out all "sideway". this why i need your advise. Since i started 7.95 is 1 April index so i didn't have 31 March index on hand.

Can you show what the EXPECTED result should be mannually? Don't want to keep guessing what you want.

Hi Cubist,

These 2 highlighted red have not matched when index dropped compared with previous day on I column (7.95-3.97),(16.23-2.01). Result for these should be "Bearish". Appreciate yours advise on how to put in good formula. Thanks

If you're comparing from previous day Tue is UP and Index change is DOWN from 7.95 to 3.97. With your criteria it should be Side way. Why Bearish?
