how to customise format to display number as text?

Hi,

I have a number/ value that I like to use for vlookup without adding an extra helper column for vlookup, however for presentation I have to show the number as text.
Is there any way i could do that by customizing the value format?

Could you give a small set of varied sample data with XL2BB and explain what results you expect from that sample data and how you get those results manually?
