Hi

Ive been using excel for couple of months now, and I find it really helpful especially when it comes to reporting.
But I'm having hard time determining the right formula to apply.

Please share your tips, guide, techniques on how to determine the right formula to use depending on the needs or requirements.

this will be helpful for everyone especially with those people who have just started excel like me.

thanks

Which Excel functions can ignore hidden rows?
The SUBTOTAL and AGGREGATE functions ignore hidden rows. AGGREGATE can also exclude error cells and more.

1. you need to have a fairly good working knowledge of what formulas are available, and how to use them
2. be able to ID what info you need, and what info you have, you can then often figure out which functions will best suite your needs
3. practice in forums like this, by trying to answer questions - or, if already answered, try answer it anyway, and see how your suggestion compares with others.
4. there is (almost) never only 1 right way to get the answer you want, there are only better or less efficient ways

thanks a lot, let me use this as a guide :)

I'd substitute for 3 of that list rather:

Study/rebuild the solutions proposed (selectively) instead of putting up not well-thought solutions. (They distracts rather than helps the help-seeker and other parties.)
