How to extract the

Hello friends,
I am framing a question paper and i have extracted the answers from the questions but I just need the choice letter and not the text after the choice. Is there a way in excel to delete everything after the " . " from the table ?

A1 B1
1 d. All of the above
2 d. Orthography
3 a. 105%
4 b. 20 persons
5 a. Restricted employees
6 b. The point of insertion
7 d. Arms
8 b. alter ego
9 a. boosting perception
10 b. inter galaxy

For example
1 d.
2 d.
3 a.
I am expecting it to be like this without the text.

Welcome to the MrExcel board!

You can do this quite quickly & easily manually as folows.

1. Select the column (B) by clicking its heading label.

2. Edit/Replace|Find what: .* |Replace with: . |In Options ensure 'Match entire cell contents' is not checked|Replace All

A macro could be set up to do this if it is a frequent task.

If you wanted a formula method to use in another column:

=LEFT(B1,FIND(".",B1))
