I have 4 colums: Team, Status, Project Name, and Start date

I want to write a formula based on a drop down list of things from Team, Status, and Project Name, and I am having lots of trouble.

How can I get a count of how many things there are where start date is say, before 8/15/14, where the Team, Status, and Project Name are equal to the values in the drop down list? Let's say the drop down list is in A1 (team), A2 (Status), A3(Project name), and A4(start date)

Please help me out!

I have to do this without using filter or pivot... they want it like this :/

Excel Facts

Repeat Last Command
Pressing F4 adds dollar signs when editing a formula. When not editing, F4 repeats last command.
I made up a simple example, this should get you started

<b>Worksheet Formulas</b><table cellpadding="2.5px" width="100%" rules="all" style="border: 1px solid;text-align:center;background-color: #FFFFFF;border-collapse: collapse; border-color: #BBB"><thead><tr style=" background-color: #DAE7F5;color: #161120"><th width="10px">Cell</th><th style="text-align:left;padding-left:5px;">Formula</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><th width="10px" style=" background-color: #DAE7F5;color: #161120">A4</th><td style="text-align:left">=COUNTIFS(<font color="Blue">F2:F11,A1,G2:G11,B1,H2:H11,C1,I2:I11,"<"&D1</font>)</td></tr></tbody></table></td></tr></table><br />
