How can I rearrange this equation to solve for A2?

=A2/N2+($J$32*A2)

Thanks,

Mike

Excel Facts

Show numbers in thousands?
Use a custom number format of #,##0,K. Each comma after the final 0 will divide the displayed number by another thousand
Well algebraically I think it's just:

=X/($J$32+1/N2)

Where X = the numeric result of the original formula

That didn't work. Here is my formula with values: 6.49=366/56.27012+(0.009166*366) How could this be arranged to solve for 366?

Before we try to do that, you should fix your formula. Excel calculates the right side of that formula as 9.859096... not as 6.49 as you posted. You may be missing some parentheses, but I am not sure where (I cannot get 6.49 no matter what I do).

With the change you posted in Message #4, it looks like you are missing the two parentheses shown in red below... do you agree?

6.49 = 366/(53.03969+(0.009166*366))

6.49 = 366/(53.03969+(0.009166*366))

The rearrangement of this (assuming it is correct for your application) to solve for 366 would be...

366 = 53.03969*6.49/(1-0009166*6.49)

Thanks for catching that error. I typed the original formula into my calculator and converted that into excel cells. Glad you caught that!! Thanks. I am about to try the other formula now.
