I have some hyperlinks in Excel documents which link to Shortcuts of files I created in a different folder. Some of them are not working any longer...Excel just spins when I click on them. Any ideas?

Waterfall charts in Excel?
Office 365 customers have access to Waterfall charts since late 2016. They were added to Excel 2019.
Welcome to the Board,

If you right-click on the Hyperlink, and select Edit Hyperlink...you'll get a window that shows you the address target for the Hyperlink.

Check to see if that address is still a valid path to get to your shortcut file.

Hmmmm...that's a tough one.

All I can suggest is that you try to look for a pattern for the Hyperlinks that work and don't work.

Perhaps the ones that don't work...
  • Have special characters in the filepath
  • Have too many characters
  • Point to a network location that Excel can't access

Just fishing on these. :)

Good luck and let us know if you figure it out.

Great suggestions Jerry! Thanks. Have considered them all since they have all in the past been culprits to links not working for my other users. I'll just keep digging and see if we can figure this one out. For now, the user is linking directly to the file instead of using shortcuts.
