Hi, I thought it would be reasonably straight forward but 'm struggling to put together a formula to populate the balance column depending on text being present in the columns. IE if column B has text the value returned is Column A, If C has text then column A becomes a positive and if both have text then it returns 0.

Excel Facts

Why are there 1,048,576 rows in Excel?
The Excel team increased the size of the grid in 2007. There are 2^20 rows and 2^14 columns for a total of 17 billion cells.

I suggest that you update your Account details (or click your user name at the top right of the forum) so helpers always know what Excel version(s) & platform(s) you are using as the best solution often varies by version. (Don’t forget to scroll down & ‘Save’)

How about
Excel Formula:
=IF(AND(B2<>"",C2<>""),0,IF(B2<>"",A2,-A2))
