Individual data items in a list

When you have a long list of data which contains duplicates, how do you create a list from this which includes all references only once e.g.
If a list is 1,2,2,2,3,4,4,5 how do I quickly create a list from this which only has each number once 1,2,3,4,5?

Have a look at:
Data|Filter|Advanced Filter...
then possibly 'Copy to another location' but definitely 'Unique records only'
