I have an image of a graph I got off the internet, and my own graph I made in Excel. I would like to overlay the two with my graph ON TOP to show the correlation. I've inserted the picture and made the background transparent, but it still covers up my line. How can I turn the internet picture into background?

Excel Facts

Create a chart in one keystroke
Select the data and press Alt+F1 to insert a default chart. You can change the default chart to any chart type
Totally nevermind, for some reason it printed out with the image in the background. Even though on the screen it is still in the foreground.

Whatever.

Hi Henrietta,

You can do this by making the picture the Chart Area or Plot Area background (depending on which you want) rather than importing the picture as a separate object. To put a background picture in the Plot Area, simply right-click on the chart's Plot Area, select Format Plot Area, click the Fill Effects button, go to the Picture tab, click the Select Picture button, and browse to the picture file.

An almost identical procedure works with the Chart Area. Of course, if you put the picture in the Chart Area you will need to make the Plot Area transparent so the Chart Area shows through it.
