Is conditional formatting evil?

I've been plagued with workbook corruption that leads to Excel crashing for several months. In most cases the built-in repair process removes conditional formatting. I use a fair amount of conditional formatting and losing it would be unfortunate. Do you avoid using it?

When did Power Query debut in Excel?
Although it was an add-in in Excel 2010 & Excel 2013, Power Query became a part of Excel in 2016, in Data, Get & Transform Data.
I have never had problems using it, and use it quite a bit.
Of course, it might be helpful to see exactly how you are setting it up, and understand others things about your workbook (is there any VBA, how is data added/deleted, are there links to other sheets/programs, etc).

Also, are you just repairing it, and then continuing to use the same (original) workbook?
If so, the workbook itself may be inherently corrupted, and you should stop using that one, and create a new one from scratch and use that going forward.
