Is there a formula for using colour format in analysing figures

Hi
I have a spreadsheet we use to keep a check on clients orders. For simplicity we use a colour code for showing if a customer has confirmed their booking or if it is a provisional booking. In each cell against a customers name, there is a figure i.e. they have booked to purchase 300 units. The column can be as long 300 customers names etc so it is very difficult to work your way down the column picking out confirmed or provisonaly booked.
What I am trying to achieve is a date analysis formula that will pick up the colour and numbers in a cell and show it as total figure, i.e. how many have we sold provisionally and how many have we sold confirmed. I then use this against target sales.
I have tried using the IF function but cant get it to pick up the colour coding, is this possible?

Is there a shortcut key for strikethrough?
Ctrl+S is used for Save. Ctrl+5 is used for Strikethrough. Why Ctrl+5? When you use hashmarks to count |||| is 4, strike through to mean 5.
Opps, finger slipped

Yes we do manually colour the cell and only use two colours one for provisional bookings and one for confirmed. The column is basicaly a calendar showing dates and if client books x amount for a specific date it goes in as provisional until he confirms the order. It then gets highlighted as Confirmed. I am trying to get to the stage where I have a formula that adds all the confirmed numbers and all the provisional numbers based on the colour of that particlular cell.
