Hi
I google short cut for PasteSpecial Transpose and it is CTRL+Alt+V then E. But then I tried to experiment pressing Alt alone first. Then H, then V, then S and I got the same answer.
So what are these Alt with letters? Are these also shortcuts, then from where this CTRL+Alt+V+ E is coming from? Thanks a lot.

Excel Facts

Easy bullets in Excel
If you have a numeric keypad, press Alt+7 on numeric keypad to type a bullet in Excel.
CTRL+Alt+V shows the pastespecial dialog
Alt activates the menus, then you can use the hot letters to pick what you want.

The old Lotus days, you would use "/" key to activate the menus. You can still do that if you went to options and advanced and check that option.

1) Entering the characters one at a time is a keystroke method of stepping you through the Excel Menu.
The 1st Alt keystroke tells Excel that the following keystrokes refer to menu options eg in Alt H V S (Alt invokes the menu, H = Home Tab, V = Paste, S = Paste Special)

2) In addition to the above, some Excel functions have a dedicates Keyboard Shortcut.
You can generally see these when hovering over a menu item.

Fig 1 - Alt > H > V - takes you to this point on the menu
