Dear Sir,

Coming from a complete non-programmer background, I am interested in picking this 2 skills for manipulation of data. However, even after buying books such as Excel VBA for dummies, MR Excel etc, I still have great difficulty understanding. This may be due to my background and also an utter lack of problem to solve using VBA as well as the nestled functions. Is there any suggestions like you can do to pick up the skill.....

Will the fill handle fill 1, 2, 3?
Yes! Type 1 in a cell. Hold down Ctrl while you drag the fill handle.
For me, the best way to learn is come up with a realistic, if not actual problem, and post questions here and ask specific questions that you have. Not "hey, can someone automate this for me" but "given this data layout, how do I sum all columns that have at least {X} number of widgets" or whatever your problem is.
