Linking to Cell with formula to return data

Using Excel 2007, and want to link to another work book in existing document to return a value or the result of the formula. I tried entering an = sign and then linking to the cell and I received a "value" error.

Thanks for any help.

Thank you for the follow up. It turns out to be an ID 10 t issue, or user error.

I was linking from one cell to another WB, but selected two cells, thus returning the #Value error.

What I should have done, is selected the source cell, copy, then Paste Special, and Pasted the Link.

The learning continues.....thanks for your effort....
