Links keep hreaking

I have a file with dozens of links to other workbooks. Whenever I'm working in the file, at some point some of the links break, giving me a VALUE error.

When I trace back and open the file(s) where the link has been lost, the link is re-established and I can just shut that workbook and keep going.

It seems like it's the same links that are breaking. I've tried manually re-linking, but the same thing keeps happening.

Any ideas??

Excel Facts

What is the fastest way to copy a formula?
If A2:A50000 contain data. Enter a formula in B2. Select B2. Double-click the Fill Handle and Excel will shoot the formula down to B50000.
Are you linking to files that do not support updates when closed ( like linking to CSVs )?

Are you sure that the files really are saved in Excel format ( and not just saved with a new file extension of ".xls" )?
