Links which stick to data, not particular cell

I am making an outline of a lot of notes to refer to in the future.
I want a table of contents with links to other parts of the document.
(Using Interior Links)

The parts of the document will be changing often.
So my situation is:

Cell A1 links to cell D5. Then when I drag the D5 date to cell F6, the link does not follow the data, it instead still links me to cell D5.
The same problem exists if I insert cells, to the left or above cell D5.

How do I make the link stick to the data I want it to link me to?

Thanks!

How to change case of text in Excel?
Use =UPPER() for upper case, =LOWER() for lower case, and =PROPER() for proper case. PROPER won't capitalize second c in Mccartney
Hello Topher, welcome to the board.
If by 'link'(s) you mean hyperlinking, then you can give D5 a defined range name, then hyperlink A1 to that defined name.
You can then move your named range around by any means you like and the link will follow along.

Hope it helps.

Thank you, that does help and it does work.
Although it seems to be a bit too laborious considering I have a lot of information, and I was planning on doing that a lot.

But I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and spend the time modifying things the way I want them. It should pay off in terms of the ease of navigation in the end.

Yep, the 'beauty' of it is that you only have to do it once.

If there are countless ranges to be named and some kind of pattern as to what to look for, where they may be found and what to name them, then it's quite probable it could be done with vba.
