I want to automatically source exchange rate information from an exchange rate website into Excel.

I have read up on the Web Query tool and have managed to find a website (http://www.x-rates.com/) with a compatible format to easily import the data I need. However, I have read from another website, that:

"You can either keep that data static or set it to auto-refresh so Excel will automatically update the worksheet whenever the source web page changes."

I want mine to frequently update - maybe once a day, but cannot see the options anywhere in Web Query to do this.

I am pretty sure that the data I have imported will not update when the website does.

Can anyone help?

Dan

Excel Facts

Copy PDF to Excel
Select data in PDF. Paste to Microsoft Word. Copy from Word and paste to Excel.
After you click on the Import, a message box appears, click on Properties and set the refresh rate as desired.

Ah yes, thanks very much.

Is there a way of editing the information you import. I have imported a table of exchange rates which has a lot of unwanted exchange rates on it. Ideally I would delete a fair few of these and prevent them from updating. I cant see any settings that allow me to do this.

Is it possible?

Not with web query, but if you are into stock you can choose the option import data and select the quotes, then you have the option for parameters either to type in the symbol into the middle box, or give the address range on the sheet like A1 to D1, or something like that, but with web query the parameter option is not available.

Edit previous tag:

one other option is to filter the query based on your interest or create a pivot table
