Losing reference to table in Excel (Power Pivot)

In power pivot we have uploaded a table which has a calculated column in excel, this seems to work ok, but when we try to refresh the data or make a change to a filter or anything it causes excel to crash and lose the reference to the table and its calculated column.

Anyone came across this an is it possible to have a calculated column in PP from excel
