I have some cells in a column that if I hoover over the text in one of the cells, I get this message:
"mailto: CellContents - Click once to follow. Click and hold to select this cell."
Where "CellContents" is the text within the cell. My question: How did I create this and how do I get rid of it? If I click the text, it tries to email the contents of the cell. Not my desire AT ALL. Suggestions?

Excel Facts

Did you know Excel offers Filter by Selection?
Add the AutoFilter icon to the Quick Access Toolbar. Select a cell containing Apple, click AutoFilter, and you will get all rows with Apple
Does the cell contain the @ character?

Excel will automatically assume this is an email address and hyperlink it. Try right-clicking the cell and clicking on Remove Hyperlink.

If you have more than one of these there is a simple command you can execute in the Visual Basic Editor:

1. Open VBE with Alt+F11
2. Open Immediate Window with Ctrl+G
3. Type in the following and hit Enter:

Activesheet.hyperlinks.delete

Thanks. They were indeed hyperlinks. Not sure how I did that and only on some of the cells but regardless, problem solved!
