I would like to know if anyone could tell me if it is possible for a macro to run as soon as a workbook is opened.
I know how to record and fiddle with macro's a little bit but don't know a whole lot about VBA script.
any help would be appreciated.

thanks in advance.

When did Power Query debut in Excel?
Although it was an add-in in Excel 2010 & Excel 2013, Power Query became a part of Excel in 2016, in Data, Get & Transform Data.
... or place a call to the macro from within the Workbook_Open event of the ThisWorkbook object for the workbook concerned.

This is the recommended way of performing this action for versions of Excel after '97. See Chip Perason's site here : http://cpearson.com/excel/events.htm
