Hello,

my problem is following:

I have a quiz with 40 questions and with only 1 correct answer for each question. My students will submit their answers on paper and I would like to input them into excel in order to produce statistical data swiftly. I am unsure about implementing this, because scoring on answers varies:

  • Correct answer +1p
  • False answer -0,5p
  • Blank answer +0p
This is my initial plan:

Which formula or formulas should I use here? Currently there is no formula for the points column as I just wrote in the scores to demonstrate my problem. Any help is appreciated!

Round to nearest half hour?
Use =MROUND(A2,"0:30") to round to nearest half hour. Use =CEILING(A2,"0:30") to round to next half hour.
By False answer, I am assuming you mean incorrect answer:

Welcome to the Board!

Maybe something like this:

=IF(COUNTA(I5:L5)=0,0,IF(MATCH("x",C5:F5)=MATCH("x",I5:L5),1,IF(MATCH("x",C5:F5)<>MATCH("x",I5:L5),-0.5)))
