Multiple conditional formatting

Hey you junkies~!
I am trying to format Column J red or green based on the date in column J, and Column N. Basically if it is after today and the Management email has NOT been sent, color RED. If after today and mnmt email WAS sent, then color Green.
Currently I am using

If column N is "Y" and Column J=today0() then color green.
If Column N is "N" and Column J =today0() then color red

I would say don't use the cell value option; use the formula option so that you can use IF/OR/AND as required.
Formulae in Excel are not really my thing so I didn't try (assuming you're better at them than me).
