I have been trying to create a if statement in excel without using a macro. I need the statement to show which shift our data is showing, the data is shown as "1/5/2015 00:00:00". I need the if statement to break it down into 3 shifts going from 23:00:00 to 06:59:00 and so on for the 2 other shift. Tried multiple different codes and it keeps on coming back with an error. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Excel Facts

Format cells as time
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+2 to format cells as time. (Shift 2 is the @ sign).
Something along these lines should cover it:

Code:
=IF(OR(HOUR(A2)=23,HOUR(A2)<7),"Overnight",IF(HOUR(A2)<15,"Morning","Evening"))
