Named Ranges changing unexpectedly

I have defined three names that refer to 10 cells in different columns of a worksheet.

For example Xn_Rev is defined as =Revenue!$F$27:$F$36

On another worksheet, I have created charts to display the values, and in the charts I refer to these names.

I am finding that the names change unexpectedly. On opening the file, I find that I have

Xn_Rev becomes =Revenue!$F$27:$AB$36 or something else odd.

Has anyone experienced and resolved this issue?

Excel Facts

Test for Multiple Conditions in IF?
Use AND(test, test, test, test) or OR(test, test, test, ...) as the logical_test argument of IF.

I have seen that happen if you insert columns within your named range. It will automatically expand the range for you so that what was your last column before the insert is still your last column after the insert. So inserting rows/columns into your named range will "grow" your named range.

Hi Joe,

Yes I've seen that too, but it's not the answer here - the altered ranges are not sensible at all, and I'm not inserting rows or columns. I wonder if it could be malware, but my AV is up to date

Thanks for thinking about this with me.

Are you sure you have all of those $ signs in the defintion?

Have just rechecked, and yes they all are there.

This problem has plagued me all week, but today I haven't experienced it. Also haven't had any Excel crashes and recoveries today. Hmm..
