Hi, I need clarification on Linking table and Deleting one.

If i delete linked table linked to maindb in frontend db will this cause problem to the maindatabase data? [not deleting the datas within the table - but deleting the whole table?]

What will happen if i delete table and keep on relinking it back? Can action like this cause any problem to the front end of even maindb?

Also is there anything special i need to keep in mind while linking tables accross databases

Thanks for helping in advance.

Best way to learn Power Query?
Read M is for (Data) Monkey book by Ken Puls and Miguel Escobar. It is the complete guide to Power Query.
Nothing to worry about - you can delete links and re-link to your heart's content. This will not delete the tables in the BE database or cause harm to your front end. Though if you can, try not to set this up so you have to link and unlink tables every time you work with your database. It's too much work that way.

Thanks alot Xen, I want to make sure that when the linked table in front end [which is linked from FRONTEND DB to BackEnd database] is deleted no data should miss/gets deleted or even the table itself...
Vba is doing the linking whenever required and then deleting the linked table once the work is done..:)

Thanks again Xen!

Well, maybe I should ask how you are linking and then deleting the linked table ... in any case, a simple test should suffice - try it and see. If the table is still there in your backend, all is well, and if not ... well, that's what tests are for. You really are making this all to complicated though. Link the table and get on to bigger and better things. You can protect your data by locking it in a cement box 10 feet underground, but that doesn't really make it worth very much. Keep the tables linked, make good forms that make it easy for users to do the right thing, take basic precautions, and keep backups. This will be enough for now - you can get into highly secured access development when you have more time with Access under your belt.

While you can do this it can become very slow with multiple users in a database. There is a lot of overhead in creating linked tables.

It could easy add 30-60 seconds to the processing just to create the linked tables and then later delete them.

It can also cause database bloating.
