I'm in the military and my duty roster is on excel which helps me keep track of postings and manning, however, I have to manually input names from a monthly matrix to the actual present day duty roster which is very time consuming switching back and forth between sheets inputing names manually.

The matrix is on sheet 'one' which has all the postings for the entire month. On sheet 'two' I have the actual duty roster that I post so everyone will know their post for the next day. What I want to do is when I put their post next to their name in the matrix on sheet 'one', it will automatically put their name on the duty roster on sheet 'two'.

For example, On tuesday, Sgt Snuffy will be posted at Police-1, so next to his name, under tuesday, I put P1 for Police-1. Now on sheet 'two' I have the duty roster and I want his name to show up next to Police-1 when I put P1 on sheet 'one' matrix. So, depending on which post I put him at on sheet 'one' he will show up next to that post on sheet 'two'.

I can rig something up by using the IF functions, however, there is 30+ postings and I do not want to write 30+ IF functions on just one cell, there has to be an easier function to use that I am not aware of.
Can anybody out there help me out with this?

The following are pictures that will give you a better visual of what I want to do: *NOTE: ALL THE NAMES & POSTINGS HAVE BEEN CHANGED FOR OPSEC REASONS

In the above picture link you will see that I have made a drop-down list for all the abbreviated post and on the left-hand side you will see the list of names. I have selected "ECC" for TAYLOR.

In the above link you will see that on sheet "two" I have the posting roster with TAYLOR listed next to "ECC" post.

********Here is the next thing I am trying to figure out********

In the above link you will see that I have selected "TDY" for GARCIA on sheet "one"

In the above link you will see that GARCIA was placed under the TDY section on the upper right hand corner of the excel spread sheet.

I hope all these images gives you a better visual. I do not know whether all of this is even possible but I tend to think anything is possible with excel.

Let me know if you need anymore information.
