Need help with text lookup between two lists

I have two lists.

List 1 is a listing of Fortune 1000 companies.
List 2 is a list of clients I have done business with.

Problem is that I have mismatched company names, i.e. "General Electric" and "General Electric Co.". I need a function or bit of code that will look at a cell in the Fortune 1000 list (cell A2), and then search my list of clients and find the closest match.

I tried this with a vlookup with the variable set to TRUE, but it was returning names like Expedia.com when I was looking for Exxon Mobil.

Can someone offer a solution?

Excel Facts

Spell Check in Excel
Press F7 to start spell check in Excel. Be careful, by default, Excel does not check Capitalized Werds (whoops)
