Subtracting one column from another that sometimes results in a negative number....instead of a negative number i want the result displayed as 0.001

Hi all,

Apology....

But this will work......

"=IF(A1-B1<0,0.001,ABS(A1-B1))"

Excel Facts

How to fill five years of quarters?
Type 1Q-2023 in a cell. Grab the fill handle and drag down or right. After 4Q-2023, Excel will jump to 1Q-2024. Dash can be any character.

Using ABS is pointless, only positive values will be passed to the false argument!

Removing it makes your formula the same as the suggestion in the first reply.

I would use General in the TEXT option.

=--TEXT(A1-B1,"General;"".001""")
