Hi and best wishes.

I'm returning to Excel
after many years.

It's amazing how much one forgets!

I'm hoping for some advice on constructing
a method to sort out some numerical results.

Basically, I need to take readings from a machine
in a laboratory. Each reading will yield 5 numbers.

Each reading will have a whole number value of between 1 and 99,
which I will enter into columns ABCD and E.

I need to read each row of 5 numbers and somehow display or highlight
all the rows that have 3,4 and 5 consecutive numbers.

I also need to display or highlight those rows where 3,4 and 5 numbers are all even or all odd.

Any ideas would be welcomed, or even point me to a tutorial that might
deal with such a problem.

Many thanks in advance.

Best wishes

Jim

Last used cell?

Many many thanks to all you guys for taking so
much time with this problem.

The solution suggested by Rick will suit me perfectly.

If I may be a pest one more time(!)

I've tried using the formulae in Excel, but no matter what I do,
I'm getting the dreaded #VALUE error! telling me there's some text
in the data entry cells, but I know there's not!

I even tried opening a blank workbook and making up some
numbers, ensuring the cells were formatted for numerical values, but
still I get the error.

I've no doubt, I'm doing something very silly, but what it is, I cannot tell,
despite reading all the helpfiles!

Once again, sorry to be a pest, but many thanks for everything.

As we say here in London, you're all diamonds!

kind wishes

Jim

Did I post a solution in this thread? I cannot remember if I did or not, but I do not see one by me... and yet you are thanking me for my solution, so I am confused. If I did post a solution, can someone repost it so I can see it?

Hey Jim,

you have to press ctrl, shift and enter together when you are in the formula to get it to work. this will put {} around the formula (array) and it works.

Cheers
